THE OLD PINE HUT
The Old Pine Hut sits on a hillside beside a majestic old Scots Pine and amidst a mixture of young broadleaved trees - the ideal setting for a relaxing private holiday. This secluded site overlooks beautiful Strathavon (which has been called "perhaps the most perfect glen in Scotland") and accommodates only two people at any time.
Lighting and heating in the hut is by electricity (from renewable sources). Cooking is by gas on a two-burner hob in the lean-to kitchen, or outside over the campfire; crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, utensils, tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, and cooking oil are all provided, as is a cool-box which is refreshed daily with ice-packs during your stay.
There is cold running spring-water (filtered and UV-treated) in the handwash sink, kitchen, and outside tap but no running hot water - that's a DIY job, as is the shower, where water must be heated over a wood fire before being transferred to an overhead tank! The WC, also situated in the lean-to, is fully plumbed and flushing.
The bedroom area contains a comfortable double bed, and can be curtained off from the main hut. Linen and towels are provided,
The seating area has reclining armchairs and a sofa, as well as a dining table and chairs. A little side room provides the perfect spot for watching birds and red squirrels on the feeder, writing postcards, or finishing that novel! On a good day you can pick up WiFi there; fortunately, 4G is good for most networks so you can keep in touch with the outside world - if you really must!
